To counter recent statements in the German press that BMW owners's could not use the European spec petrol to E10 standards, BMW have issued their own press announcement stating that all BMW petrol passenger cars (including the MINI range) can use this fuel.

E10 petrol contains up to 10% ethanol and is part of a European initiative to reduce pollution levels.

The German paper claimed that condensation from the burning of E10 contaminated the oil and also caused increased wear in the engine. BMW state that both of these claims are false.

On the subject of fuel, we noticed that the instructions for the diesel on our Clubman state that biofuel should not be used.
