New paint colour to Moody
Blue (a nissan Pulsar colour),
Twin tanks fitted due to
the long distances to travel
in Australia.
Shell completely sandblasted
and stone guarded inside and
under for protection.
New paint all over in two
pack.
Clubman seats fitted after
new cloth trim fitted. I have
retained the sliding windows
as my wife wouldn't let me replace
them with 'windies'.

On Trailer
ready for sandblasting

Damage uncovered
by sandblasting
|
Inertia reel seat belts to
front and lap sash in the rear.
ROH Minilite mags fitted
with Bridgestone tyres.
Subframes were sandblasted
and powdercoated for longer
protection.
A new wiring loom was sourced
from Western Australia from
a company that reproduces to
original including cloth covering
and yellow tracer.

Brakes were upgraded to 1.5 inch shoes on rear
and twin leading edge shoes on front (I was
told 1.5 in on front was a definite no no).
All glass has been tinted.
Woodgrain SAAS steering wheel.
Body Numbers 29205 and 29014, I am told one
is the UK number and the other the Aust.
number after import and compliance.
I have had the car since 1995 and it was
purchased as a wreck for A$250.00.

External repairs

Resplendent in Moody Blue
|
There was minimal rust and all body panels
were original and have been retained. There is
now no Bog in any panels as all repairs have
been carried out by a coach builder who takes
great pride in his work.
The restoration plan was to build a new Mini
not to restore to original, this one should last
another 38 yrs.
After the partial restoration I was
disgusted with parts of the
job and so decided that down the track we
would do a complete restoration.
I hope you enjoy the transformation to the new
blue colour, we love it..
